Day 30 comes from a co-worker who was willing to share her story about the Drive-Thru Difference.
A few years ago she heard about the Drive-Thru Difference on a local radio station. The concept encourages listeners to show a little kindness to others by anonymously paying for the order of the person behind them in the drive-thru.
The radio station even provides a note, which you can print out and have the cashier hand to the person you have gifted the surprise coffee, meal, or other drive-thru treat to.
My co-worker decided to try it out at a drive-thru coffee shop one day. She pulled up to the window, handed over her card and asked to pay for not only her coffee, but the order of the person behind her.
She didn’t ask to see their tab, or what they had ordered. She generously handed over the money to cover whatever they had ordered. In addition she printed the letter from KTIS and handed it to the cashier, asking him to pass it on to the following car.
She never met the people in the car behind her or asked for a thank you. She left with everything she needed.
Her story is a reminder that every little decision we make to put others before our selves is an act of considerable generosity and kindness. And so often it’s the smallest thing that makes the biggest difference in someone’s day, week, month or ever year.
Do you have a story to share? Please send it my way! I’d love to share it as part of the 40 Days of Good News.
